AGE LIMIT

Candidates age limit follows;

Minimum Age: 20 Years

Maximum Age: 35 Years

Candidates born between 02.01.1991 and 01.01.2006 (both dates included) only eligible to apply for this post.

Other Backward Communities and SC/ST candidates are eligible for usual age relaxation. In the case of Clerks of Fire & Rescue Department the upper age limit for appointment as Station Officer by direct recruitment shall be 43 years.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational:-

·       Graduation in Science from a recognized University preferably in Chemistry.

·       Candidates with recognized equivalent qualifications are also eligible as per Kerala PSC rules

·       Candidates with outstanding achievements in sports and games will receive preference.

Physical Qualifications:-

v General Candidates

Ø  Height: 165 cm

Ø  Weight: 50 kg

Ø  Chest: 81 cm

Ø  Chest Expansion: 5 cm

v SC/ST Candidates

Ø  Height: 160 cm

Ø  Weight: 48 kg

Ø  Chest: 76 cm

Ø  Chest Expansion: 5 cm

Physical Measurement of the candidates will be taken prior to the Physical Efficiency test and those who do not satisfy the prescribed Physical standards will not be allowed to participate in the Physical Efficiency test under any circumstances. If accidents or injuries happen to a candidate in the Physical Efficiency Test, he will not be given further chance to participate in the test.

Visual Standards:-

Ø  Distant Vision: 6/6

Ø  Near Vision: 0.5

Ø  Each eye must have full field of vision.

Ø  Colour Blindness, Squint or any morbid conditions of the eyes or lids of either eye shall be a disqualification for appointment.

Ø  Must be certified to possess the visual standards specified above without glasses.

 

PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST

A Physical Efficiency test will be conducted by the commission to assess the physical efficiency of the candidates. Candidates must qualify in at least 5 out of 8 items in the physical efficiency test showing the minimum standards of efficiency as noted below.

Ø  100 Meters race: 14 Seconds

Ø  High Jump: 132.20 cm

Ø  Long Jump: 457.20 cm

Ø  Putting the Shot (7264 gms): 609.60 cm

Ø  Throwing the cricket ball: 6096 cm

Ø  Rope Climbing (using hands only): 365.80 cm

Ø  Pull Up or Chinning: 8 times

Ø  1500 metres race: 5 minutes and 44 seconds

 

BOND

A person appointed by direct recruitment to the post of Station Officer shall execute a bond as given in Annexure IV, binding himself to serve in the department for a period of 7 years specified in column (2) vide G.O (P) No 99/88/Home dated 17.8.1988, and shall pay to Government an amount prescribed by the Government, in case he fails to serve in the department for the said period.

PROBATION

Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years. He shall within the prescribed period of probation, pass the following test if he has not already passed them namely:-

·       The department test in the Kerala Fire Force Standing Orders and Practice.

·       St.John's Ambulance Examination in First Aid.

·       Account Test (Lower)

TRAINING

·       Course of initial training for the prescribed period in the State Fire Service Training School/National Fire Service College, Nagpur or any other recognized Fire Service Institution and a pass in the examination in the subjects prescribed for the course, if not already undergone such training and passed the examination

·       After the above course, training for an actual period of six months on duty with a fully trained Assistant Divisional Officer/Station Officer before independent posting to station.
